This route takes you up a gentle incline with great views of the city behind you. The first portion of this route allows dogs off-leash. However, porcupines are known to frequent the area, so it is advised to be cautious about letting your dog off-leash, especially during the early mornings or evenings when porcupines are most active. Easy trail. Not that many, but a lot of people for a Monday in November. The trail is basically a gravel service road to the top of a local peak. The views from the top are quite good. This is a good first hike in SLC to get the overall lay of the land. Dogs on the main trail do not need to be on leash.
