Battlefield Trail loops around the battlefield that was fortified by Union troops during the Battle of Lexington in 1861. Two interpretive signs explain the action that took place on the field. This trail is one of many mountain bike and hiking trails at Landhal Park. The park has over 20 miles of intersecting trails which allows for a wide variety of route options. This trail is a combination of Will's family and Dave's Maze trail. The trail is somewhat rocky with little elevation gain taking visitor's through typical shaded Missouri forests.

This trail is fully paved and partly shaded. It is dog-friendly. There are multiple neighborhood access points. Accessibility: There do not appear to be any designated accessible spaces off of South Buckner Tarsney Road at the east end of the trail. However, there are at least 2 designated accessible spaces in the paved parking lot off of Southwest Eagles Parkway at about 0.8 miles at Sni-A-Bar Elementary. Both of them are van-accessible with striped access aisles. Please avoid parking here...
