The trail starts at the end of Kanonestrasse road in Lucerne or at the mountain station of the historic Gütsch funicular if one is arriving up from the city. Then it's off straight into the Gütschwald forest. Again and again the trail offers great views of the surroundings and one also hikes through the area around the Sonnebergwald forest.
