The Conservation Trust for North Carolina, with the help of private landowners, has been able to preserve and protect 81 acres of land next to the parkway which is where this overlook is. This protected land opens up more recreational opportunities for the area. From this overlook, you can connect to the Mountains-To-Sea Trail across the parkway.
