Being the highest mountain in the Taconic Range, the climb to the top of Equinox Mountain is steep and unrelenting. At the summit, you'll find a visitor's center and a monastery that can also be accessed by car. Lookout Rock is another two tenths of a mile from the summit, which has views of nearby Manchester Village, as well as a unique and beautiful marble bench. Continue up W Union Street off Seminary Ave to pick up the trail from the parking area.

The Snicket is a .42 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Manchester, Vermont that is easy. You can park at West Union Street Lot (second lot, first lot says "additional parking". Take the Red Gate Trail .5 miles to Snicket, Yellow and black blaze on the left after passing Flatlanders Pass. Snicket crosses back over Red Gate Trail towards the end, and ends connecting to Trillium (Green) and Mt. Bluff Trail (white).

This loop is made up of the Lye Brook, Branch Pond, Appalachian/Long, and Old Rootville Road Trail. You will also need to walk about 1.5 miles on the road back to the starting point. The loop explores the Lye Brook Wilderness passing Bourne Pond and Prospect Rock along the way. There are established camping areas at Bourne Pond and along the Long Trail.
