This is the second day of a two-day that completes the Hop River Trail. Starting at Burnap Brook Road and ending in Willimantic. Users can get around the closed bridge with a short detour. Going left on Kings Road a short distance and then right on Flanders River Road will put you safely over the river and back on the trail.

Cheney Rail Trail is a point-to-point stone dust trail that runs just west of Main Street. The trail starts at the North End behind the CVS at the corner of Main and North Main and runs south-west ending at the parking lot of the apartment complex at the corner of Forest and Pines Street in the Historic Mill District. From parking area on Lake St go east to north end of Risley Pond, cross stream and turn right on the blue blazed trail. Hike south along east side of the pond to the dam, at the pond's south end. Turn left and head east up the ridge, hiking the blue blazed trail in the CCW direction. Bear left at top of the ridge and proceed north towards Box Mountain and communications tower. Trail turns west heading back down the ridge to north end of Risley Pond and return to parking lot.
