You follow the dike along the Waal to the former brick factory De Lagewaard. From here you make a round trip around the village of Hurwenen. This is half the route of Rondje Heerewaarden, only the northern part of the official trail. You walk through the floodplains between Waas and Maal, and around the historic Voorne fort. A route through incredibly beautiful river landscape with beautiful views, many waters and in summer a sea of flowers. There are restaurants and cafes at the starting point in Heerewaarden, otherwise you will not come across any catering establishments along the way.
