From the main parking area at this forest service road’s trailhead, the first few kilometers follow a moderate incline along a wide pathway through thick trees. Once you get onto the marked trail, the landscape becomes much more scenic with lots of variety. Falls Lake is a scenic lake situated between Hope and Merritt in the Coquihalla Summit Recreation Area's subalpine. The trail offers views of Nak Peak to the south and Zoa Peak to the north. It's a quick and easy hike to the lake where there are two tent pads available for camping, along with an outhouse and bear hang. The lake is perfect for a swim!

This route has slippery and snowy conditions almost all year. There is some very challenging scrambling and climbing involved. Please ensure you have the appropriate gear. This is definitely one of the harder trails, if not, the hardest hike with a scramble under the 10-kilometre mark in the area. One of the reasons that the Flatiron via Needle Peak Trail is so great is thanks to it being a route that is moderate, but it can also be as long as hikers want it to be because there are so many viewpoints that no matter the distance, it will be worthwhile.
