The Spruce Acres trail is owned and managed by the Aquidneck Land Trust. There are 1.5 miles of grass trails that loop through a former Christmas tree farm on the Middletown/Portsmouth line. Plenty of parking off East Main Rd. Follow the signs to walk behind the barn on site to the trail. The map shows the 1-mile blue loop. Aquidneck Land Trust's Little Creek Preserve connects to the 10-mile Sakonnet Greenway Trail. Parking is available at a small 3-car lot on Bramans Lane in Portsmouth. The property has 0.5 miles of trails and is great for bird-watching and wildlife viewing. The property is signed and has a map kiosk at the parking area. Many hikers extend their walk onto the adjacent Sakonnet Greenway Trail.

The Oakland Forest and Meadow Trail is a short loop trail open dawn to dusk that goes through a 10-acre meadow and 20 acres of old-growth beech forest. It is an excellent spot for wildlife viewing or a quiet stroll through the forest. The trail can be accessed by a small gravel parking lot at the end of Carriage Drive in Portsmouth. Dogs are not allowed here on the trail because of Oakland’s unique and delicate ecosystem, Bicycles or motorized vehicles are also not allowed.
