This is a newer Trail system and has good trails in most of the area. There are some locusts in the bottoms that make for a thorny experience if you get into them. The area is a great natural trout area and one of the only places to have a special trout. There are Special fishing rules so check the manual before taking to many home.

This route is the paved Wilsons Creek National Battlefield Tour Road which makes for an excellent biking route. There is a self-guided auto tour as well- for more information, please visit the park website at https://www.nps.gov/thingstodo/travel-the-tour-road.htm There are many stops along the way to admire the scenery or check out historic sites along the interpretive stops.

This short walking trail takes visitors to Bloody Hill as well as other monumental sites on the battlefield such as the "Lyon Marker" and a natural sinkhole. On one part of the southern hiking section, you will see a variety of native plant species unique to the Missouri prairie.
