This route utilizes the southern end of the 4C National Recreational Trail and forms a loop near Ratcliff Lake. There are some sections of trail that walk along the bank of the lake, and the rest travels through a beautiful forest. This is a relatively easy hike but be prepared for several creek crossings. This route can be extended north on the 4C Recreational Trail.

This family-friendly loop begins at the scenic lake overlook at travels through a variety of settings. The trails are generally well-marked and maintained and feature a ton of shade making it a great place to hike during the summer months. There is a decent amount of elevation gain within this relatively short trail.

This route has great trail markers for the first six miles or so, but afterward, it is suggested to download the offline map to navigate the majority of the route. About halfway, there is a small shelter for camping, and another mile past that point is a primitive campsite. After storms, many downed trees can be expected along the trail.

This route combines two different trails available for hiking or mountain biking at Martin Creek Lake State Park. There are beautiful lake views along the way and many opportunities to stop and observe the abundant wildlife and variety of plant species in the area. The path's surface is mostly gravel/road and singletrack natural ground.
