Emerald Pond is a beautiful spring fed swimming hole nestled in a small hollow off the Bird Knob Trail. The water has exceptional clarity, and in the summer months is surprisingly warm for a mountain pond. 1.5 miles in you get a beautiful view of Harrisonburg Valley. Campsites are also available near the pond.

This trail is paved to the end with little rock trails that lead off the sides with no real elevation change. Great for pictures and families with young children. Accessibility: There do not appear to be any designated accessible spaces in the small paved parking lot on Crisman Hollow Road at the north end of the trail. Some of the best vistas in the mid-Atlantic. Strickler Knob trail is a challenging rock hopping/scramble that has beautiful views of New Market Gap, the Luray Valley, and a 360 degree picture perfect panorama from the Strickler Knob summit. A nice hike with a great little rock scramble on the ridge. The rock scramble on the last 0.2 miles of the Strickler Knob trail is just as much fun as Old Rag and Duncan Knob, requiring several 12ft climbs over and between the cracks of the boulders. You...
