This is a challenging hike with a decent amount of elevation gain. There is plenty of shade and sun along the way and the temperature changes throughout the day so it is suggested to bring layers. Most of the trail is through the woods with several sections along the balds at Max Patch. Bring plenty of water as there is a minimal amount of water sources.
