A wonderful combination of city walk and Waal river walk. The route starts in the historic center of Nijmegen, where you first make a round around the Grote Kerk and the Markt. Then you walk on to the Hunner Park, with the Belvédère and the Saint Nicholas Chapel in the middle of the former watchtower. The RijnWaalPad is a bicycle highway that connects the cities of Arnhem and Nijmegen. The path offers a safe and fast cycle route without interruptions, from Rhine to Waal, city to city. A rest point has been installed halfway through. There is also a good option to stop at Elst or Bemmel and pass the Nijmegen-Lent train station.

South of Nijmegen Lent is the Spiegelwaal, a secondary channel which is now known as a recreation area. There are many water sports available, and it is a nice place to take a walk. After a short visit to Fort Beneden Lent, you cross the Spiegelwaal via the Zaligebrug, after which you walk between the waters of the Spiegelwaal and the Waal. Cycle route from Nijmegen train station around the Ooijpolder. The beautifully green area is located on the Waal and is part of the Gelderse Poort, a nature reserve consisting of river landscapes. The route takes you along the Oude Waal and Bison Bay waters, and of course along the Waal. You will also pass villages such as Groenlanden and Ooij.

Cycle route via cycling nodes starting from Nijmegen train station. From the train station you can cross the river Waal within a few minutes. You drive through the district of Lent, and then into the polders, where you first make a stop at the Boven Lent fortress and the kolk van Efferen.
