Sam Houston Jones State Park was named after the state's 46th governor who helped put aside this land for the public to enjoy. There is an abundance of unique animal and plant species that thrive in this area which can be seen along this trail. Bird-watching is a popular activity to enjoy along this route.

This route travels through tree-filled lagoons and pine forests which creates a unique experience for hikers to enjoy. There is a rich amount of plant and animal biodiversity which can be seen in many areas along this route. The most popular tree species you will find here is the longleaf pine and some of the oldest of its species!

Dogs are allowed everywhere at Sam Houston Jones State Park however they must be leashed.
