The route is not very well-marked and it is suggested to download the route beforehand to navigate. There are beautiful views across this coastal landscape the majority of the way.

There are many recreational activities to enjoy here such as hiking, bicycling, horseback riding, picnicking, boating, fishing, hunting, nature study and photography. Horseback riding and bicycling are allowed only on forest roads, firelines and designated trails. Tiger Bay State Forest contains one hiking trail (Buncombe) in the Florida Forest Service's Trailwalker Hiking Program and one equestrian trail (Rima Ridge) in the Florida Forest Service’s Trailtrotter Program.

The trailhead to this trail begins right before the big statue in the parking lot. There are not many views along the trail, however, there are many opportunities to view wildlife and wildflowers. The majority of this hike is along a sandy trail, which passes by dunes and through flatland ecosystems. This is a hike that the whole family can enjoy!
