Sometimes nicknamed the Little Somme, the bay is a privileged refuge for migrating birds who take advantage of this haven of peace to rest during their long journey. You will discover the small village of Sallenelles whose history is closely linked to the life of the bay.

The proposed route passes in front of the landing beaches of Sword Beach in Hermanville sur mer in Calvados, to Utah Beach in Sainte Marie du Mont in Manche. The route follows the beaches as closely as possible, however avoiding passages that are too sandy and it takes portions of a cycle path. At low tide, bypassing the American cemetery of Saint Laurent sur mer can be avoided by passing on the beach (make sure you identify the return point on the route)
