Along this loop, hikers will pass a vernal pool which is an important breeding place for frogs and salamanders, a small cave, and a stand of white oaks. This is the only known stand in Maine. Historically, white oak was used to build ships in the colonial days. All of the trails are managed by the Town of Poland.
