This beautiful scenic loop is conveniently located in the Madera Canyon Dispersed camping area. There are several viewpoints of the rolling hillsides where wildlife can often be spotted. The terrain is relatively easy to navigate, however, it can be overgrown during certain parts of the year and it is suggested to download the offline map.

Travel along the North Ridge Trail for interesting and dramatic scenery. The Tall Grass Trail has flora and panels on human history, while North Ridge takes you through a winding volcanic boulder landscape. This route does not explore the historic ruins, but you can add a bit of distance by exploring the grounds.

This is a well-marked and fairly challenging trail that features beautiful scenery along the whole duration of the route. The top of the trail rewards those who make the voyage with beautiful views of the surrounding area. Many sections of this trail are exposed and bringing sun protection is advised.

The Headquarters Trail is parallel to the state park entrance road and leads to the first wildlife viewing area. There is very little grade change along the way and the trail is relatively easy which makes for a great family-friendly hike that everyone is sure to enjoy. This can easily be connected to other trails in Davis Mountain State Park.

This route features a nearly 900 vertical foot climb to some of the most spectacular vistas in the Davis Mountain State Park. Though challenging in some places, this dog and horse-friendly trail offers visitors a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the serenity of the beautiful country scenery.
