Al Sabo Preserve is located in northeastern Texas Township, in southwestern Kalamazoo County. It comprises of 741 acres of marsh, forest, streams, and rolling hills. Numerous trails provide recreational opportunities throughout the Preserve. This trail features beautiful views, and can be enjoyed by hikers and mountain bikers alike! During the winter, the trails can be used by cross country skiiers and snowshoers as well.

This loop combines many of the trails at Al Sabo Land Preserve, including the hiker-only trails on the north side of Portage Creek. Mountain bikers may use some of the trails along this route, but cannot use the trails on the north end of the park. The trails at Al Sabo are beautiful and full of wildlife species. When hiking on trails that are shared by mountain bikers, please walk in the opposite direction of bike traffic.

A great loop that can be used by mountain bikers and hikers. Since some of these trails are one way, hikers should walk against bicycle traffic when on single track sections of the mountain bike trails. Mountain bikers should follow black arrows on posts. When present, a second black arrow indicates an alternate shorter route for bikers. This beautiful preserve boasts a large lake, trails, and loads of wildlife. The property serves as a research area for professors and students at Western Michigan University as well as other educational institutions. Please practice Leave No Trace principles and do not hike around the northern part of the lake; there is no trail there.
