Gaetz Lakes Sanctuary is a federally protected migratory bird sanctuary and is a wonderful place for a quiet walk amongst nature. The first part is gravel and the second half is paved, with a good variety of up and down and flat surfaces. There are some stairs that are not wheel-friendly. Several viewpoints throughout offer great views of the ponds and marshland. Ask the front desk for a map to see what interesting animals have been spotted in the area!

Park at Discovery Canyon then walk past the concession, up to the washrooms, then go on the unpaved trail to your right to get to the trailhead. It's a nice easy trail, well treed with a good amount of shade but not many opportunities for a view of the river. There are occasional benches along the way if you need a break. There is also a playground and a bathroom at the parking lot.

This is a great trail right in the city with lots of small hills to keep you interested. There are lots of offshoot side trails to explore but it's definitely not hard to figure out where to go. The trail around the golf course is pretty flat but the ski trail on the other side of the road has quite a few hills.

Features
You’ll like this trail if you like exploring and wandering around the woods! The trail is good for running and an outdoor workout. There are lots of stairs for a leg workout and the trail is long enough for a good run. It goes near the highway so it can be noisy as the cars drive by, but there are some spots along the trail where you can sit and observe the nature and listen to the birdsongs.
