The Berkman, Rochester: Certified Dog-Friendly Rank & Review
The Berkman received a failing F Roch Rank. This place is a tough sell for dog owners. While most rooms are dog-friendly, the hefty $150 per stay fee is a bitter pill to swallow, especially when you get next to nothing in return. No dog beds, bowls, or treats are provided, so pack your own gear. The lack of amenities makes the fee feel like a cash grab rather than a service.
Dogs can be left alone in the room, which is a rare convenience, but don't expect to enjoy a meal with your furry friend in the hotel's public areas. They're not welcome in the bar, restaurant, or lounge, which limits your options significantly. The only saving grace is the dog run on the 6th floor, a small relief for bathroom breaks, but not much else.
The weight limit of 100 lbs excludes some larger breeds, but it's not the worst restriction out there. However, the absence of nearby parks or green spaces means you'll have to venture further for a decent walk. With no dog-walking or sitting services, you're on your own for entertainment and care.
In summary, The Berkman falls short on delivering a truly dog-friendly experience. The high fee with minimal perks and restrictions on public area access make it hard to recommend. Look elsewhere if you want more bang for your buck.
