The trail begins at a gate at the end of Camino de los Mares in San Clemente. Parking is not allowed on Camino de los Mares. Instead, you will need to park on the side street about 50 yards from where it dead ends. This is a wide path that takes you up to Patriots Hill for distant views of the Pacific Ocean and Dana Point harbor.

Once you get to the Dripping Cave Trail, you'll find one of the prettiest spots in Aliso & Wood Canyons. Stop at the cave and read the story! It's fascinating. Lots of rabbits, quail, and deer in the area. Bring sunscreen in the summer, there is limited shade. This trail is shared by both hikers and mountain bikers, it can be quite narrow at times so please exude caution to avoid any collisions or injuries. Overall, this is a wide trail with fantastic views and lots of side trails to add distance if you want. Many but not all trails here are dog friendly.
