This route takes you along Alssund, which is the strait between the Jutland peninsula Sundeved and Als. The strait is 500 meters wide, 8 - 10 meters deep, and no more than 8 km long. Enjoy the beautiful view of the strait before the route takes you further around a field, to then return once again again along the beautiful strait.

You will come past Dybbøl Mill, where the historic war in 1864 was fought. The war was between Denmark and Austria - Prussia, where Denmark loses Selsvig and Holstein to Germany. The trail also takes you past the beautiful Gråsten Castle, where Queen Margrethe usually resides during the summer.

Sønderborg Castle can be dated back to the 13th century but was rebuilt in 1550-70 to a renaissance castle. Today, the castle is a museum that tells the story of Southern Jutland's history from the Middle Ages to the present. Several wars are highlighted more than others, as they played a major role for Southern Jutland, such as the wars of 1848-50, 1864 and 1914-18.
