This trail is a 3.3 mile out and back trail. It is an easy trail used year round and is used for hiking. The trailhead is up by the old airport and heads south around the bluff. It is a mile to the old quarry, but the trail continues another .6 mile past if you choose to continue. There are nice views as you walk out onto the point.

Getting to the trail is a little scary if you don't have 4-wheel drive. It's a steep non paved, rutted road that goes straight up to the trailhead. The trail itself is well marked throughout for the most part. There are a couple of confusing places where side trails and dirt roads cross the trail, but even if you get off track it's impossible to get lost because you have such a great view of your surroundings. Owen's Loop really isn't a loop until you get to the end and the trail makes a very small loop around and back to the trail you came in on. Owens Loop Trail roughly follows the urban edge of St. Georges northwestern downtown residential area from on top of red sandstone bluffs.
