The Suolijärvi nature trail goes around the Suolijärvi shoreline, and there are information points along the way that introduce the nature of the area. The first nature trail was established in 1986, but in the 90s the route was changed to the current one. Along the way you will find tiny caves and foundations of old buildings. The South Karelian military march has been a popular event for more than ten years. Unfortunately, in 2020 and 2021, the event had to be canceled. As a result, a Remote Soldier March was organized, which allowed participation individually. This route is one example of a long-range military march. You can choose the route yourself, it must be 25 or 50 km long. It should include both paved and unpaved roads. In addition, the route should avoid areas where there may be a lot of people.

A nice loop that runs both on the city streets and off-road. The route starts from Hervanta swimming hall and goes to Särkijärvi. The journey continues through Isokuusi to Koukkujärvi, and from there via Mäyränmäki to Suolijärvi, and through Ahvenispuisto back to the starting point. You can easily deviate from the route to the beach at Särkijärvi or Suolijärvi.

South of Tampere is the Hervantajärvi hiking area, which also includes Makkarajärvi. Near Makkarajärvi, on top of the bedrock, there is a place of silence, Metsäkappeli, created by the Hervanta parish. The forest chapel has a cross made of snag wood and log pews for approx. 30 people. The route runs from Heinurinmäki parking area to Metsäkappeli and back.
