Trail starts with a gradual downhill on South Trail and then on the way back around the loop has some pretty challenging uphill portions. Overall not an extremely difficult hike, but does have some steep inclines.

Nice views from the parking lot. Trail markings are sparse except at major trail intersections. Rocky in places. The loop begins by walking along Camelback Road before follow the. South and Scout Trails. Mountain laurel can be seen blooming alongside the trail during the late spring/early summer months.

Indian Trail offers a great vista from the eastern cliffs, visible from I-80 and points in Tannersville and Scotrun. Hikers may also connect to South Trail midway across the south face section from Parking Lot 3 using the Vista Trail for a shorter loop. The trail is very rocky, so closed-toe shoes are recommended.

From the gate and parking area along North Rd./Railroad Dr. head east into the woods along the old railroad grade of the former Wilkes-Barre and Eastern railroad. At 1.3 miles reach junction with North Trail Loop. This was the former site of Tannersville Station. A stagecoach road descended to the right on switchbacks to the town in the valley below.
