This trail is a loop within the Columbia Hills State Historical Park. The trail begins with a steady climb to the top of the bluff. From the top, there are beautiful views of the Columbia River Gorge and Mt. Hood. This trail is abundant with wildflowers in the Spring, usually peaking in April-May. This is a superb wildflower hike from March to mid May, with outstanding bluff views of the Gorge any time of year. This trail is named for the former cherry orchard at the top of the bluffs. There are still a few aging trees up there, but don't expect many blooms or fruit. Heads up! There is abundant poison oak along the edges of this trail. It's a good idea take precautions against poison oak, such as knowing how to recognize it, wearing long pants, and avoiding hiking off-trail. The...

Obtained as a gift from Mark Mayer in 1924, the Rowena Crest Viewpoint is a paved overlook located near the top of the high bluffs on the south side of the Columbia River.
