This is a great trail that is paved, smooth, wide, and moderately trafficked. You can park at North Shore Park for free and walk the loop. It can easily be made longer by adding other segments to different parks along the way. This is a great shaded trail which is nice to catch relief from the hot summer sun. This is a nice family-friendly hike that has restrooms located near the clubhouse and amphitheater. Dogs will love the creeks and open spaces along the way. Bug spray is recommended due to the number of bugs present in the warm months.

The Montgomery County Nature Preserve is an out-of-the-way urban greenbelt park located near the confluence of Panther and Spring Creeks. The trailhead is marked and has a map of trails on the preserve. The Big Oak loop crosses a gated-off maintenance road and winds through the forest.
