Heritage Trail is a paved bicycle trail that is very popular in the area. This walk includes a very short segment of this multi-use trail to access the Greenspace East park & it's a paved walking trail. Fairly easy trail for the most part. Lots of hills, but nothing extreme. Parts go down paved paths by roads, parking lots and dorms. There are a few narrow places right by a drop off and one tricky set of ladder-stairs, but only about 6 feet.

This loop takes you through dense, peaceful forest at the SIUE Nature Preserve. There are some sections that tend to have overgrowth and blowdown often. The route is also not always well marked, so it is a good idea to keep an eye on your map. In the summer and early fall, keep an eye out for the many spider webs that criss-cross the trail. You may want to grab a spider stick at the trailhead! o
