Discover along this route the Ruchfels rock, the Soultzbach waterfall and a water hole called "Salzloch" which feeds many legends. Some say it is bottomless while others claim it is connected to the sea. This pleasant route, mainly in the forest, begins in the village of Urmatt in the Bas-Rhin.

This hike represents stage 8 of the GR®5 and takes you from Urmatt to Schirmeck, in the Bas Rhin. On the way you will pass by the Chemin de l'Eimerbach, the Rocher de Mutzig at 1009 meters above sea level, the Col du Narion, the Col de la Côte de l'Engin (789m), the Col d'Entre Deux Donons (822m ), the Donon, the Emperor's Staircases, the former Col du Donon ski resort and the village of Wackenbach.

This proposal for a long hike aims to make you discover, by means of a journey of a few days, some of the most beautiful sites in the valley. The route has been designed to be easily accessible by train, which can also be used to interrupt the hike if you do not wish to do the whole trip (Urmatt, Rothau, Saulxures and Lutzelhouse stations).

A nature walk to the high altitude stubble which overlooks the valley. History and exceptional views punctuate this route to the Piton du Falkenstein and the former Struthof camp.

This pretty hike in the forest starts northeast of Lutzelhouse. The route follows the Route du Eisenbuckele, the Route forêt des Quevelets and the Chemin du Grassweg, before returning to the starting point. The Soultzbach Waterfall and the Petit Katzenberg are near this route, which can be extended (sections not included in this itinerary).
