2.3 mile loop trail through timber and along fields. Fairly flat well maintained trail through the Ramsey Lake State Park hunting preserve. Trail leads through the timber with sightings of deer and plenty of birds.

Not much of a trail to follow. It is mostly just some small paths worn by visitors that are easily lost in the brush. There is more nature preserve than shown here, but this hike ended when a wide stream was reached with no clear crossing without getting rather wet. Lot's of creeks to ford. It's a neat place, hiking along a snaking stream in the bottom of a canyon. Lots of rock bluffs, some cut into by the stream making shallow caves.

There are a few short trails here, but all of them are connected by Patriot's Trail that loops around the park. This path took Patriot's Trail, with a few steps down to the lake in the main fishing area, and Fireworks Trail to the point on the opposite side and Fisherman's Trail back to Patriot's Trail. Pawnee trail shares a leg with Cherokee trail loop 3 along a paved path to an old cemetery of early settlers in the area. It shares another leg on the other side of the loop with Kaskaskian trail. There is a connecting trail to enter from the Eldon Hazlett Cottages. The trail is wide and well maintained through a nice forest, with one leg paralleling the shoreline of Carlyle Lake. Deer and othe wildlife can be seen along this trail as well
