Very nice hike in the Vaud pre-Alps with, like the magnificent Col de Bretaye and its lake. The pass links Villars-sur-Ollon with the alpine pastures of the Lac de Bretaye, Lac Noir and Lac des Chavonnes region and La Forclaz in the valley.

Magnificent downhill mountain bike course. The departure is from the Col de Bretaye. The pass is located in the Vaud preaples at an altitude of 1805 meters. The pass is connected via facilities. The redsecends course ensutie on Villars-sur-Ollon in the canton of Vaud. You will find everything you need in this place whether in winter or summer.

This hike begins at the Col de Bretaye train station, directly at the valley station of the Col de Bretaye chairlift. You can then take the lift or you hike all the way up. You will pass the Roc D'Orsay peak, then you reach the Le Chamossaire peak and a little further on, the little brother Petit Chamossaire. The trail begins at the terminus of the railway line in Col de Bretaye directly at the Col de Bretaye at 1804m. Then it goes to the lake Lac de Bretaye, which one is able to circle around. It gives great views and can really enjoy the peace. It is a terrain, partly rocky, without much shelter, where you are exposed to the sun, especially in summer. So please don't forget to bring adequate sun protection and water.

The trail starts at the top of the Col de Bretaye and you will pass some small lakes and then continue hiking through the countryside. You come over the top of the Tete de Meilleret and then you continue along the small watercourse of La Gryonne. Follow the marked path down to Villars sur Onon, where you can take the train back to the start.
