From Voorburg train station, this trail takes you through the old and new parts of the city, over the polders, past the old windmill De Vlieger, the Essesteijn petting zoo, through parks and along the water back to the station. At the end of the route you have the opportunity to visit Museum Hofwijck and the gardens. The museum is housed in the old house of Constantijn Huygens (1596-1687). The Koninklijke Weg ("Royal Road") is a 170 kilometer long trail from Noordeinde Palace via Soestdijk to Het Loo Palace. Along the way you pass nature reserves such as the Groene Hart, the Veluwe and the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. The route is divided into 21 stages and is fully wheelchair accessible. This part of the route from Leidschendam to Benthuizen is dominated by the Green Heart. You pass lakes such as Starrevaart and the Zoetermeerse Plas and walk through polders.
