The first mile of the trail is well established before it becomes less maintained and follows the course of the brook. Downloading the map ahead of time is recommended to help navigate if you're planning on venturing this far on the trail. The far end reaches Risky Ranch Road. There are several spots to explore the brook along the way.

This stretch of the Appalachian Trail can be accessed from Pattison Road. At the top of the first climb there is a nice view to stop at before heading up towards Mount Williams. Follow the ridge line uphill leading to the summit of Mount Greylock. There are some great markers in place pointing out notable landmarks you can see from the summit.
