The start of this hiking trail in the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park is located on rue de Grunenthal in Windstein in the department of Bas-Rhin. The route takes the direction of Wineckerthal before heading north and the Petit Grueneberg pass. It draws a loop around the Lindenkopf (512 meters) before returning to the starting point overlooking the valley of Gruenenthal.

Hiking circuit in places steeped in history, in the Regional Natural Park of the Northern Vosges, which passes through several castles, including Nouveau-Windstein castle, Schoeneck castle, Wineck castle, Wittschloessel castle, and finally the castle of Vieux Windstein. This route also passes through the Maginot Line, a line of fortifications built by the French before World War II.

This hiking route in the Northern Vosges, not far from Niedrbronn-les-Bains, will take you to discover the fortified castle of Schoeneck (13th century) and that of Wineck (built a little later to complete the system of defense) as well as the rock of Man and that of Modenberg.

This hike is located in the Regional Natural Park of the Northern Vosges and begins in Windstein. The route passes among others below the Steinkopf and the Château du Vieux-Windstein, but also by the stones with cupules (circular or oval petroglyphs) and the Lindenkopf at an altitude of 512 m. The route continues via the Col du Petit Grueneberg, the Col du Wineckerthal, the Col de Wittschloessel, Obersteinbach, the Château de Wineck, the Vallon de Gruenenthal and the Château du Mittel-Windstein.
