This is a super fun trail that isn't nearly as popular as it should be. The waterfall is the main selling point here, and it's at its best after some good rainfall or snowmelt. There are some excellent campgrounds along this trail, and near the trailhead as well, so this hike makes for an excellent addition to your wilderness vacation if you’re planning on staying in the area.

High country trails with potential for more. A nice easy loop for a quick walk, snowshoe or cross-country skiing venture, depending on the weather and conditions. There is a picnic area on the west side of the loop and a longer trail past the Jim Creek dam. An ornery moose has been seen in the area, so proceed with caution around him.

The trail begins at Second Creek Trailhead along Highway 40 into gentle climbing in the forested area along Second Creek before opening up to the north near treeline and ascending 800 vertical feet. At the top of the ridge you'll pass the old Second Creek Cabin A-frame, replaced by the newer Broome Hut. Dogs are not allowed at Broome Hut.
