This beautiful walk in the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park leads you to discover the village of Wissembourg in the Bas-Rhin. The path starts at the station and crosses the village along the Lauter. Along the way you will discover a beautiful architectural heritage: Castle, washhouse, Husgenossen Tower. The trail then climbs through the forest towards Bannholz. You will have a very beautiful panorama on the valley and on Wissembourg.

The Grande Randonnée 53 trail (GR® 53) is a variant of the GR® 5 which connects Wissembourg to Masevaux, that is to say the north and south of Alsace, passing through the Vosges peaks. This roaming hike, crossing part of the Northern Vosges Regional Nature Park, allows you to pass near ruined castles from which you can admire splendid panoramas!

A crossing of Wissembourg, former city of the Decapolis founded in the 7th century on the banks of the Lauter, at the Gimbelhof, a locality near the ruins of the Castles of Loewenstein and Hohenbourg. This route partly follows the Franco-German border and is in the heart of the Regional Natural Park of the Northern Vosges.
