The Dashorsterpad is a Klompenpad which is dominated by the Grebbe Line in the Gelderse Valley. The route takes you over towpaths along the Valleikanaal to the Voorwerk on the Roeffelaarskade. Although this is one of the shorter Klompenpaden, many hikers are very enthusiastic about this path. During the walk, interesting history, beautiful nature and delicious food are discussed (it is a Klompenpad Food, see "Tips"). The first part of the walk follows the Valleikanaal. The Valleikanaal flows south of Scherpenzeel. The decision to build the canal was made in the 1930s. The Gelderse Vallei often overflowed, and with the construction of the canal this was kept under control. What is special about the canal is that many of the line canals of the Grebbe Line were used for construction. The Grebbe Line is an 18th century defense line.
