Riffelhaus 1853

The trail starts at the Riffelberg station and leads through open countryside. At the foot of the Riffelhorn at 2927m one continues hiking and then reaches the small picturesque Riffellake. A few kilometers later one reaches the Gornergrat ridge at 3118m. It is a terrain, partly rocky, without much shelter, where you are exposed to the sun, especially in summer. So please don't forget to bring adequate sun protection and water.

The Riffelalp is located in Zermatt in the canton of Valais and lies at 2222 meters above sea level directly above the tree line. The views are completely open in a unique mountain region above Zermatt in the canton of Valais. The path is rather short and flat and therefore perfect for the whole family.

The tour begins at the Riffeliberg mountain station and leads up to the Gornergrat. There is also a chapel on the ridge and a few places to stop for refreshments.
