Warner Point Nature Trail offers a great taste of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison at the end of South Rim Road. Scenic 1.5 mile RT hike to a great view of the canyon and river below. This is a short walk to a view point and has one of the best views of the Painted Wall and the canyon in the Park. This is perfect for a quick stop to enjoy some gorgeous views. There are beautiful wildflowers in the spring and early summer. This is a great stroll for the entire family - stop for lunch and take in the scenery.

Day hikers and overnight hikers are all required to obtain a wilderness permit in order to hike this route. A limited number of permits are available from the South Rim Visitor Center on a first-come, first-served basis. Hikers should be prepared to carry 4 liters of water or should bring a water filter.

This is a short but challenging hike with gorgeous views of the canyon walls and the river below. Sections of the trail can be narrow with steep drop offs, so this trail is not recommended for those who do not like exposure. Bring sturdy footwear and trekking poles for the climb out. Keep an eye out for wildlife along this trail.
