A fine, and very little-known, set of trails just south of Royal Pond by Route 23. Created in honor of land conservationist Bob Thieriot, the trail system is small, but perfectly formed. It mainly passes through deep woods, and a beaver pond, with a cut-across trail (Cathcart Crossing) to a lookout called Dave's Bench, a lovely little spot where one can rest and picnic.

Campbell Falls is one of the top waterfalls in Mass. The combination of the short and easy hike and the zig zagging plunge through a gorge makes this waterfall a great area to visit and photograph. Campbell Falls is a water fall that plunges and cascades 50 ft. The water plunges through a small gorge then cascades into a small pool.

Park at the Benedict Pond lot (fees payable at certain times of year). Go counter-clockwise on the Benedict Pond Loop Trail (blue blazes) and follow it to the South Eastern end of the lake and then around until you meet the Appalachian Trail (white blazes). There is a sign there that says The Ledges (The Steps on the All Trails map). Follow this up a short sharp ascent until you reach more level ground. Continue on a little way until you reach the Ledges, an amphitheater of exposed rock....
