The Bananal Lookout is one of the most spectacular and radical on the whole of Ilha Grande. The trail is bumpy, with many roots and rocks on the ground. Access to Mirante do Bananal is from the middle of Praia do Bananal, by a very steep climb, passing by some houses in the community. The path has signposts at dubious points and passes through old plantations, crossing ruins of a farm from the time of slavery, very close to the top.

The trail leaves from Praia do Bananal and pass through the forested island of Ilha Grande and arrives at Praia Saco do Céu. Right at the beginning of the trail you will pass by Camp Cristina. The route departs from Praia do Bananal. With 350m in length, it is one of the most rustic beaches on the island. Bananal has warm and transparent waters, which depending on the depth can vary between green and blue. In the middle of the beach is the church with its sidewalk studded with shards of colored glass. Following the path, you will arrive at Praia de Freguesia de Santana. The tour is worth it, for the beauty and tranquility of the place.

The trail is marked as T5 and starts at Bananal, and the path is popular for hiking and sightseeing. This route offers several attractions along the way, such as: giant fig trees, natural pools and mangroves. Between Praia do Bananal and Praia de Passaterra, the climb is quite steep and you will have a spectacular view of the immense bay of Ilha Grande. On almost every beach you can snorkel and it won't be difficult to swim alongside beautiful turtles.

Its calm and clear waters complete a very beautiful setting for both the sea and the mountain, where the imposing peak of Matariz is located.
