This is a beautiful and secluded location with trails along the clear, blue water. The trail can become muddy during wet conditions and waterproof shoes are recommended. This is one of the less-trafficked trails in the park but it is certainly worth the visit. There are not many views along the trail, however, there are many opportunities to view wildlife and wildflowers.

To find the trailhead, drive to the end of the RV/camper area and park along the fence. Walk downhill, past the stream restoration project from the damming of Pudding Head Lake, and look for the Sand Pine Nature Trail sign to the right of the trail intersection. The portion of the Sand Pine loop that edges the stream is a beautiful stretch of woods full of Turkey Oak, Laurel Oak, Longleaf Pine, Sand Pine, Southern Magnolia, Yaupon Holly, and tons of Deer Moss. This trailhead is located near the RV parking lot at the back of the road. This is a beautiful trail to see many parts of the surrounding Bayou. The trail is well-maintained and easy to navigate and there are many opportunities to view wildlife and local flowers along the way. This is a great choice for the whole family to enjoy!
