The baptismal site in Jordan (אתר הטבילה קאסר אל יהוד) is a special and sacred place for Christianity. The river flows out of Jericho and forms a beacon of life in the heart of the desert. Christian pilgrims make a pilgrimage here to dunk in the river, just as John baptized Jesus according to tradition about two thousand years ago.
