Tenderfoot Trail takes hikers up, up, and up. This route is a genuine workout to the top of Tenderfoot Mountain from the trailhead at the end of County Road 51. Many sections of this trail receive southern exposure, and as such the snow is often quicker to melt, so this is one of the trails which is accessible earlier in the warmer seasons.

This trail can be taken as an out-and-back route to the overlook about 100 yards to the west along the trail, or users can continue to do the full loop. Accessibility: It is unclear if there are any designated accessible spaces in the paved parking lot off of Swan Mountain Road at the south end of the trail. Ptarmigan Trail is a really beautiful hike that offers hikers some spectacular views of the valley, lake, and town once you get to the bench overlook at the top of this route as mapped here on this page. Depending on weather and conditions, this trail might be a little challenging for complete beginner hikers or those with mobility issues due to some steep sections on the trail.
