This steep path leads to some beautiful cascades. There are also some viewpoints looking out over Franconia Notch. Hikers in the winter months should come prepared with the correct layers and snowshoes or microspikes. The trail is not well marked, so downloading the map ahead of time is helpful for navigating.

The trail begins from the Indian Head Trailhead off Route 3/Daniel Webster Highway. The trail climbs to the top of Mount Pemigewasset. The top has many tall granite ledges and has wonderful views of Franconia Notch. Users have reported the trail can often be very wet following rain, and there is typically water running down the trail.

A nice paved highway with many scenic overlooks, hiking trails and swimming spots in the river. The road has a generous shoulder for many sections. This scenic drive goes from Lincoln, NH to Conway, NH through the heart of the White Mountains. Notable sites along the road include the Pemigewasset River, Swift River, and Forest Service camgrounds including Jigger Johnson and Passaconaway Campground.

There are no parking fees, but there is an admission fee to the trail in the high season (generally mid-May to mid-October). The gorge is open from late May to late October.
