Parking can be found by the trailhead on Johnstone Road. The well-maintained packed trail is easy to follow through a gorgeous pine tree forest. All along the trail you will have beautiful views of Nelson and once you reach the top you will have stunning panoramic views of Nelson with the surrounding mountain ranges. During the winter, spikes are highly recommended. Poles can feel reassuring on the downhill but not required.

Up to the Flag Post, there are two trail options of varying difficulty. The black diamond option on the right is an easy scramble for experienced hikers. There are stunning views from the Flag Pole summit that are well worth the effort!

To get to this official trailhead, you will drive along the Forest Service Road starting from Passmore Upper Road for a while. Hikers with poor clearance recommend parking at the parking lot 2.4 kilometres from the trailhead and walking the last distance if you do not have a high clearance vehicle.
