This is a nice little climb to get the heart pumping (ca 80% uphill). The track will take you through regenerating forest to the Paihia Lookout where you'll enjoy stunning views of Waitangi, islands of Paihia (Motumairie), and the Russell Peninsula. It's a well-formed track with nice scenery along the way.

This is a beautiful walk alongside the Waitangi River. It will take you from Waitangi to Haruru Falls. Haruru means “big noise” in translation. If you visit the waterfall after heavy rain you'll hear the water long before. It's a lovely track through a forest and some wetlands with a grove of mangroves. A car park is available at the trailhead.

This well-marked track follows the beach, crosses the road bridge at Te Haumi Stream, and then passes into coastal bush covered terrain. After the bridge, follow the Te Araroa Pathway sign. This track ends the Opua Ferry landing. To continue onto the Okiato to Russell Walkway, take the ferry from Opua to Okiato on the Russell Peninsular.

The Haruru Falls in Hururu is a great stop if you need to stretch your legs. It's a very short walk to a small waterfall located on the Waitangi River. Haruru means “big noise” in translation. Visiting the waterfall after heavy rain is recommended - you'll hear the water long before you arrive. A small car park is available at the trailhead.
