Schuddebeurs was the place where the Zeeland rich used to build their country houses and estates. The mansions were surrounded by wooded parks and lush gardens. Many of the estates were lost during the Second World War, but this route takes you through the estates that are best preserved. The park forests are now managed by Staatsbosbeheer and when you walk on the paths between the ancient beech avenues you understand why. The dike runs in the middle of waters, with the Oosterschelde on the left and on the right a wetland area rich in birds where countless creeks flow. You will pass a beach and the Prommelsluis pumping station. Flaauwershaven is a very small harbor where you will find a restaurant.

Nice route on the Schouwsedijk, the dike along the Havenkanaal. The route can be used for walking, cycling and running. It is also ideal for a bit of cycling with younger children. The route runs to Schuddebeurs. This is a group of estates. The group used to be much larger, but much was destroyed during World War II. This group is all that is left.

Zierikzee has such a long and strong history in the battle between man and water that a nature reserve has been named after it: nature reserve Levensstrijd (Battle of Life). With this trail from Natuurmonumenten you walk through this nature reserve and through the Rengerskerke area. The coastal areas provide an excellent living environment for both meadow and coastal birds. The route takes you to the Kiekuut viewpoint, the best place to admire the birds.
